I assume most of you don't so here is the TL;DR For Primary, Secondaries, and Heavies: Character light level does not matter. The Light level of the weapon is what determines how much damage you will do For Melee, Grenades, Supers, and Relics: Character light level is what determines damage. NOTE: There appears to be a drop off where really low character light levels will end up impacting your weapon damage level, regardless of the weapon light level.
