Okay cool. I've been playing survival mode. I've always played peaceful before. Damn, it's harder than I expected. Lol.

 

Yea, I tend to play Peaceful or Easy as well with my son. He doens't like the monsters

 

That being said, any server I manage will have a strict "Mob Griefing OFF policy"; Unless we are doing an RPG game pack, in which case I would honestly vote for a Normal -> Hard mode server.

I died 3 or bring times trying to mine coal. After a while I started going back for revenge kills. Haha.

Have you found the "Fire Creepers" yet?

 

They don't explode like normal, they create a huge fireball that sets everything around them on fire.

 

It sucks, they are pretty rare though.

 

Firs thing I focus on doing is finding lava and diamonds and set up an Obsidian wall around whatever I am building that is at least 3 high.  Can't blow up or burn obsidian, but it takes forever to do, and you had better have diamonds

I don't think I've seen a Fire Creeper.   That's something different than the regular monsters that burn at day light, right?  

 

I spawned right next to a volcano.  That's where I was mining, but there are so many monsters in that area.  Thanks for the tips man.  I'll keep at it.

what mod pack are you on?

 

Byte Size adds in a modpack that adds in a ton of different animals. Most of which are neutral, but there are some aggro mobs in there that suck ballz to fight.

But, I am a little confused.  So, there's the Tekkit launcher and ATLauncher.  I downloaded the Byte Size thing from ATLauncher, and I launch the game using Tekkit.  Is that right?

Whatever you download it with, will be what you launch it with

 

you shouldn't even see Byte Size in the Tekkit launcher

Tekkit Launcher is for Tekkit and Tekkit style modpacks

So think of it like this.

We are choosing what COD map we will play on, in what version of CoD

 

Byte Size is a Map for Black Ops 1 on PS3

Tekkit is a Map for Modern Warfare 1 on the Xbox 360

So apparently I've been playing just the Tekkit one, which I've really enjoyed.

 

I just started up a Byte Size one too now.  So far so good.  I found a cow with a hat. wtf

The TF2 hats craze spread to Minecraft. It causes so much lag, adds nothing to the game, and is a massive annoyance.

 

If you see your performance take a hit, remove both hats mods and you should be okay.

Unlocked the "Moonwalker" achievement because it was a Michael Jackson type of white hat.  That's dumb.  Yeah, I'll be getting rid of that.

there are so many bloated mods in most mod packs, its gotten to teh point that if I see any of the following, I remove them:

 

Twilight Forest

Mystcraft

Hats

Hat Stand

 

there are a few others that I can tell you about, like Tinkers Construct, but they are a PITA to remove
