Over identification with ANYTHING isn't healthy.  When you define yourself by your hobbies, job, or whatever, it's not healthy.  Police officers, doctors, lawyers, bronies, etc.

I may have worded my last post wrong, (please cut me some slack here, i was hopped up on painkillers last night, so i wasn't acting like i normally would)

Maybe ill get a lot of crap for posting this here, but i SLIGHTLY AGREE with this post i found on the internet,

I've met Bronies IRL that FORCE MLP on me, that is where i feel annoyed by the Brony's. then i have some friends that are like "Yeah, i watch it." and thats it, maybe they have a phone case relating to MLP, maybe a wallet. Okay then, you do your thing, ill do mine. and i'm fine with that.

Maybe i came off as attacking bronies but thats not the point i was trying to make in my last post.

Its just......Christ i can't even explain it well. when literally everything you do HAS to have something relating to MLP in it i feel as if thats a bit too much.

But being relentlessly attacked by a fandom because its "Not my thing" is not the way you should act about it. that video said Bronies support things like Friendship and Love. Then accept that it isnt something everyone enjoys.

That quote is everything wrong with the what everyone here is saying.

Im boggled as to why you even posted it.

Alright then. Lets do this:

_comparison to furries: check

_heinous generalization: check

_condescending to the point of disgusst: check

_judging: check check

Still racking my brains on why you thought that harsh quote would help you

---

Pretty much ANY fandom you can think of has that minority.

I cant tell you the times Ive had Homestuck or Dr Who pushed on me, you dont see me singling them out because "I think theyre annoying".

---

And there you go again with the "taking it too far" thing.

Again: so what?

If you want to express yourself by representing your fandom, I pity the guy who judges you.

Relentlessly attacked? LOL!

Maybe if you call them a ponyf@g (which Ive been called many times) or if your post/points come off as judging or condescending (which, to be fair, they do), then yes, you will probably be met with the fury of a thousand suns (one can only L&T so many times).

But in my time as a brony, I have NEVER come across a person who didnt deserve the hate they got. The "I accept you" to "youre a f@ggot" ratio is very small.

/Painkiller-you and regular-you act pretty simalarly.

//the quote made your statement look contridictory.

What channel is this thing on in the UK anyone? I gotta check it out.

Its on The Hub, but its free on Youtube.

DONT watch the first 2 episodes, they arent that good. xD

Check my ppr for recomendations.

^ You're the only person I've come in contact with thats openly a Jabronie  and you've never pushed it on me. I've never really been annoyed with people suggesting something or letting me know how much they like it. I’m the type of dude that will learn about it just so I know what I’m talking about when I make fun of you something fierce. :P

The best and only sufficient explaination I can think of is this:

It appeals to the kid in me.

Yes, Im only 19. But I had to grow up fast.

Something about this show (whether it be the humor, or the animation, or the characters or the ability to go to extreme levels of "D'aww" without ever becoming cringeworthy) makes me feel happy and content.

Everyone has an inner child they like to indulge with cartoons and video games, me liking this show is no different (no matter the packaging).

Atleast I think they have an inner child.

/God, I hope they have an inner child.

It's like the Tim Tebow phenomenon, people resent him because he's "in your face" with his religion, despite the fact that by all accounts he's genuinely a really, really good dude. How fucked up is that. You see, the problem isn't with Tim Tebow, the resentment comes from the insecurities of the people who hate him. I submit that most (very deliberate choice of the word most, i.e., not _all_) people who really have a hair across their ass for bronies, do so out of resentment. They resent that someone else has something that they're really into, resent that someone is part of a sub-culture that they know nothing about, resent that someone has this special thing that makes them happy.

On the part of the bronies, they probably have a tendency to be overly enthusiastic as a defense mechanism for liking a "little girls" show. But that's really kind of irrelevant. Whether or not they're 'in your face with it', this is the internet, don't read their posts.

The problem with Tim Tebow is that he was presented to the world as if he was Jesus of Nazareth reborn with a golden arm.

He was/ isn't, he was barely responsible for the wins that Florida took during his time there. Yet Tebow's mother, the Media, and his publicist would tell you otherwise. (This is where he goes south, and it’s not his fault, but! he is beholden to his own "Cult of Personality")

He then went onto the NFL where just a comparison of his stats will show that he is crap.

QB record: 7-4 (11th), completion percentage: 46.5% (34th, worst), interception percentage: 2.2% (9th), yards per completion: 13.7 (3rd), yards per game: 123.5 (35th), QBR: 72.9 (28th), sacks taken: 33 (12th), sacks percentage when attempting a pass: 10.9% (34th, worst), comebacks led in the 4th quarter: 5 (3rd) and game winning drives: 6 (tied for 2nd).  So there are the stats, cold, hard, honest, undeniable.

There is no question that based on statistics Tim Tebow is an average-to-below-average NFL quarterback.

Tebow is what’s called a "Project Quarterback", which means that the head coach and offensive coach will take this dude on and make a project out of him. They will try to work on his strengths and get his head where it should be.

The only reason they would do this is because most scouts and coaches also use their "Gut" as a measure of a player. Tebow has loads of intangibles, (Things that cannot be measured)

Tebow was a hard worker, a hard player, and a really dedicated study of playbooks and game footage. By all accounts he was a model player, never complaining, never causing a fuss; but he was also never improving.

His accuracy sucks, his throwing motion sucks, and he is totally unreliable as far as reading a defensive line.

And that’s why Tebow's "career" in the NFL is dead.

Huge loads of hype, for nothing. Tebow was Vaporware

Comparing that to Bronies isn't a good fit. People were not ridiculed for liking Tebow; they were ridiculed for trying to promote a bad player as the best player.

I've yet to hear a Tebow fan being labeled as a Furry.

The reverse cannot be said. I hear all the time that Bronies are Furries because they insist on ponifying and over sexualizing everything.

I could care less either way, but just wanted to point out the disparity.

Now, all that said, Trekkies would be a much better comparison, but even then you have end up with the base argument of "Should boys play with dolls/girl things? Or should they play with Guns and Science/ boy things?"

//Potential spin off thread "Why is Star Trek considered a boy show, and why is science considered Masculine?

Luke 23:34
'And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they don't think it be like it is, but it do."

I wasn't referring to Tebow with respect to what he does (or doesn't do) on the field. There are a lot of people who just hate/strongly dislike him because he mentions God/Jesus when doing interviews. This, I think, is an indictment on the haters, not on how Tim chooses to express his faith.

I understand your point now. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes though, people like that are "Anti-Theists" they are not even deserving of the Atheists label, and yes I can completely agree with you that My Little Pony reserves a percentage of the same type of hate.

It's a really well made show, it shouldn't matter that people outside of the age group it was made for enjoy it. Look at all the grown men who like pokemon, or all the 8 year olds that love cod. I think the problem people have with bronies is that when they think of them, they think of Overweight middle aged men with a neckbeard, singing the MLP theme song from his mums basement while masturbating to a picture of pony porn.

But there's a larger population or normal Bronies who just find those people disgusting. The show's just really childish and fun, it's easy to just relax and watch it on a lazy day.

I used to be a pretty big Bronie, but then i finished watching all the episodes and i kind of retreated back into the closet. Well not exactly the closet, i won't deny liking the show but i don't normally bring it up or do anything pony related anymore.

Fun fact: When a male honey bee climaxes during sex, his testicles explode and he dies.

@Frace

What people dont understand is that more than just grown men watch this show (and they arent even that grown, the average age is 22 years old).

Teenagers, children, and people of all race/gender/age/background all like delving into FIM.

Yeah, in-between season times gradually depletes your brony meter. x)

But season 4 is nearly upon us!

And if the animatic or the leake bits are of any example, its gonna be great.

I disagree with you. They are grown men. They may not be mature but they are grown. A LOT of people at 20 something have jobs and family's. Tuns of responsibilities.

Lol.  It's funny man.  These younger generations still feel like kids into their 20's.  Any excuse to keep living at home usually too.  I was out at 18 and doing my own thing.  It's not necessarily a knock on them, but times are certainly different.

@Tiger

Yes, of course, but not the 40-something neckbeards everyone imagines.

I wont deny that we probably have are those guys somewhere in the community watching FIM, but hey, what fandom doesnt?
