Commander_Undies 618
Hey! I've been wanting to educate myself on Greek Mythology and wanted to know if any of you guys are interested on this subject and if any of you can recommend any programs or books. Especially, books. I'd like to read about this stuff. If not, I'll just Google and read reviews. Chookes 965
I ain't trying to take the piss here but I genuinely watched the film Immortals on Saturday and then started reading about the Greek Mythology on the interwebz. I was never really interested before, but I enjoyed what I read on good old Wikipedia. I wouldn't recommend Immortals though. Commander_Undies 618
I don't think I've ever seen that. But I've always been interested in Mythology. I just never pulled the trigger. deterioration 443
I took Folk Tales instead. Peep Homer's Odyssey and 1981-Clash of the Titans is a great monster movie. The Percy Jackson movies arent that bad also. Wanting to bang Alexandra Daddario will get you through. L_C_Scipio 395
The Iliad and the Odyssey are great places to start, plus they're all-time classics. The Odyssey is a better read because there's more action and less "Dude A killed Dudes B and C", which there's a lot of in the Iliad. tronic44 and Commander_Undies 2 Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/1638-greek-mythology/#findComment-40863 Share on other sites
cyberninja2601 1,106
Hey Mike, I would suggest that you start with Wikipedia which has a wealth of information and then you at the list of reference for each of the articles. You can then look up those books and see if they are available. You could also look at first year University programs. Some offer Mythology and try to determine which textbook they use. University text books are often expensive but they might have them at the library. tronic44 3,642
Definitely the best place to start is The Iliad or The Odyssey! I took Classical Civilization as a subject at school, enjoyed it massively but was never good with dates, which is obviously an issue Have fun with it dude, there's a hell of a lot to read about. Also, and this may sound obvious, but if you're going to buy any of these books make sure that they are translated.....unless you can read ancient Greek, then go ahead but if you'd just like to read them off the web then this place has most stuff you'd want, especially when getting started. (it's also got both The Iliad and The Odyssey, translated) http://www.greekmythology.com/ No idea how they came up with the site name Commander_Undies 1 Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/1638-greek-mythology/#findComment-40873 Share on other sites
