Router is literally a meter away from the PS4 and is always running on the Ethernet cable rather then wireless.
I had a look through your thread and can see you had to do a bit of tinkering to get it working correctly in the end. Ultimately was it something that you might have figured out or am I going to struggle if I end up going for one of these Decepticon looking routers?
So I currently have my VM Superhub 3 in modem mode and is currently hooked up to a Netgear R6250, which I will be completely honest, have no idea is a good router or not only I bought it 5 years ago when the by router I had at the time burnt itself out.
For a while now I’ve been suffering with persistent lag spike issues in various MP games and was wondering if the router is potentially to blame.
is there anything I can do in the router settings to help the issue or do I need to consider a router upgrade?
For any of the guys who have gone down this route, what did you go for, was it worth it, and is there anything I should consider before I lie to my wife about how much the new router was...

the one thing I didn’t like about the launch was the re-release of GTA V again. For a game that has now spanned 3 console generations, it really smacks of a company that really doesn’t care about trying to build something new and would rather flog the exact same poor cow again and again and again. on the plus side my wife got very excited about ratchet and clank and that bugsnax game 🤣
Sony Gold are probably the best value for money headset ive had in recent years. Astros are great if you are playing many hours/playing competitive but the price is obviously a lot higher but its totally up to you
Okey dokey so I finished work early yesterday and went to the store to have a look.
They didnt have any Sony ones left in my price range and I couldnt really spend more although their 4k TV looked amazing!
One issue with the LG one; Unless I wall mounted it it wouldnt be able to sit on our TV stand because the legs are right on the edge and our TV stand is just too small.
So I ended up with the Samsung one. After using a 22 inch monitor for the past month and a half this thing looks absolutely gigantic! The picture is bloody good (assassins creed looked amazing once i had set it up!), and i was quite impressed with the sound quality as well. The bloke eve knocked some money off for me as it was my first time purchasing something from them and I had come to them especially to look and purchase.
Can I just add that we try and buy all our electronics now through John Lewis. They offer their own (not manf') 2 year guarantee, they're not massively over priced being cheaper in some cases and their customer service is absolutely exceptional. Worth a look
Yeah I did have a look at JL but Ive had past issues with them which has put me off. That was a few years ago now though so maybe its forgive and forget and try again with them.
I have to say (when it was working) the previous Samsung TV had great picture quality. It was just let down by some unknown inherent fault and frankly abysmal customer service.
Weve got the Samsung in our room, lovely telly. It's only 60hz though, telly manufacturers have developed all sorts of marketing bullshit to blag higher refresh rates, and samsung's cinema whatever it is is just as much bullshit.
I had heard about the Hz issue but I think at that sort of price i dont think it will annoy me that much and the girlfriend wouldnt have a clue either way

Ok after the farce that is Samsungs customer service team, over a month later they have said that I can either have a refund or an exchange for my faulty TV that i havent even had for 2 and a half months in a 12 month period.
Now im just going to get a refund and buy a new TV from a more independent place that comes with a 5 year guarantee.
Right so I am looking to get a new router to replace the Technicolor piece of shit that PlusNet sent me many moons ago when I got the fibre goodness.
Now i really dont have any clue as to what im looking for in a router other then turning me into an online warrior would be a great benefit. Everyman and his dog likes to connect to our internet when they turn up at the flat so would I safely assume that I need something that prioritises traffic?
Price range would be up to £50 but could go higher if there is something amazing out there that costs a little more.
So over to you ladies and gentleman, suggest away please

Having just started streaming in the last couple of days on the PS4 I can help with a few of those queries
Just make sure you up the quality from whatever it starts on to either Best or Best HD (obviously depends on your connection)
There are two tick boxes on the broadcast screen that asks you whether you want mic audio in the broadcast which i guess is for the commentary side of things and there is also an option to have the camera on as well (if you have one plugged in)
Im actually quite impressed with the stream quality
Right my Dad has started using the design program TurboCAD and is looking to purchase a computer/possibly build his own to replace the 10+ year old laptop that he currently uses.
Is there any good deals out there that people have seen that would be a good choice or failing that whats the most important parts to look for if he wanted to build his own desktop?
His budget would probably be a max of £650 (but he does need to get a monitor as well). He isnt looking to play any games so i dont need to worry about that
