This one initially released back in 2018 and I didn't really get into it until now on PS5. It's a beautiful hand drawn 2D, action/adventure platformer/metroidvania, where you're able to change forms as you discover them to help solve environmental puzzles and combat the various enemies you encounter. I've unlocked 3 forms so far, and each one varies from the other. Pig form allows you to sniff the air and find hidden switches or chests, as well as use various magical abilities. The snake form allows you to stick to mossy walls, spit venom that really wrecks enemies and eventually a dash bash that destroys small rocks blocking your progress. The frog form is basically a warrior with a hook shot/Grappling hook tongue that helps with platforming and reaching those high up areas. I'm about half way through and it's been a decent ride so far. Definetly worth a look if you're into this genre of games.

This one just dropped on PS5 and PC this past Friday. It has a Devil May Cry/Bayonetta kind of gameplay style. I think I may grab it and give it a go.

I just recently picked this up on the Switch. I’ve never been one for rouge like games but this is really fun. Gameplay is top down isometric similar to hyper light drifter. Looks similar as well. You play as one of many members of a family defending the planet against an ancient corruption afflicting the lands. Each family member unlocks separately at junctures of the game. The one thing I really enjoy is failing a mission will not cost you any coin earned and any items you collect during a mission are retained even in death. There’s been a few times so far where I’ve died and the story has progressed despite it. Coin is used to upgrade the family and stacks throughout all members. Also, as you unlock abilities with each family member, a special ability is unlocked and shared amongst them all It’s been really fun so far. If you’re a fan of old school 2d style games and rouge likes, definitely check this out.

Another one that just released on Steam and Switch. I've heard comparisons to Hades with this one. I may have to check it out.

This looks interesting. There is a demo available on Steam if anyone is interested in this style. I may check it out.

I've been playing a lot of this since its release and i've been really enjoying it overall. The setting is kinda cyberpunkish distopian future with psychi abilites and a hack and slash kinda DMC gameplay style. The story is really out there, I wouldn't expect anything less from Japan, but it's really the combat that has been a blast. The camera and lock on system really needs a patch big time. That'd be my only gripe. It's very inconsistent when you're locked onto an enemy but never attack it directly when locked on. That's probably my only complaint about it. If you're a fan of any Platinum Games developed piece or anime inspired hack and slash gameplay, this could be for you.
