I feel bad, but I thought he had OD'd years ago.

The Few Details out so far:

Rock star Scott Weiland was found dead on his tour bus in Minnesota ... TMZ has learned.

Weiland was on tour with his band Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts ... they were supposed to play the Medina Ballroom tonight, but the show was cancelled. A source connected to the band tells us Scott was found Thursday night on the bus around 9 PM.

Police surrounded the bus, which was parked outside a motel in the town of Bloomington, MN. The Hennepin County Coroner now has Weiland's body.

The former lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver famously battled substance abuse for years. We're told he died in his sleep but it's unclear what caused his death.

Scott was 48.

Story developing ...

Luke 23:34
'And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they don't think it be like it is, but it do."

listening to Core at work all day today.  it's bittersweet news -- i think he still had a lot of creativity in him but he definitely lived the rock star life to the fullest.

i was lucky enough to see STP twice -- the first time i was pretty convinced Weiland was lip synching because he seemed out of sync with the bullhorn parts on Wicked Garden and Crackerman.  the second show he seemed to be on point and it was an amazing show.

Whats year(s) did you see them?  I would have loved to see them back in their prime.

They were on a tour with Neil Young, Blind Melon and I can't remember who when I saw them.

This was back when I was in high school, I don't remember enjoying it much, but at the time I was a much bigger Alice in Chains fan.

I would have looooved to see Blind Melon.  They've only got 3 albums (2 while Hoon was alive), but I feel that they're  very underrated.  Everyone knows the song No Rain, but they've got so much more to offer.  One of my favorite bands from that era.

I also love Neil Young.  Damn man, I would have loved to have been at that concert for those two acts alone!

haha yeah me too -- i caught them on the rebound after college, so this would've been their reunion period between 2008 and 2011 thereabouts.  it was just a trip to hear the hits live.
