My son has an Xbox 360.  He has Gold.  I never play online on the Xbox, so I'm not real clear how it works.  Help me out here.

Can two accounts be on the machine, both with access to online gaming, but with two different user names?

If he gets an Xbox One, can one gold account be used on both consoles, assuming both are under my User ID?

Or would it require two Gold accounts to accomplish this?

No. Your gold membership is tied to your gamertag. Everyone must have their own membership unlike PS+.

His gold membership will work on the Xbone.

He can use it on both systems.

With playstation plus as long as one person on the account has plus everyone on the playstation can play online.

I'm not an Xbox owner so I don't know for sure, but I think that the XBOX one can share gold. The 360 cannot.

See the following support article

it seems to indicate that anyone with an account on your "home" console can share the XBOX benefits

At home with Xbox One

As an Xbox Live Gold member, you can share the benefits of Xbox Live Gold with others while they’re using your Xbox One console in your home. Friends and family can simply create their own account and gamertag on the console, which gives them the ability to enjoy Xbox Live online multiplayer gaming.

Friends or family members with their own gamertags coming over to play? No problem. They can sign in and play online multiplayer games, even if you sign off.

I have an xbox one and just got gold. Chad and I both have an account on it and we are able to access anything that either of us buys via our accounts. For example, Chad bought some games on his 360 before we met. Because he has a profile on my xbox one I am able see, download, and play his games through my own account on the xbox one. This doesn't work on our 360's though.

It's pretty niffty.
