Sennex 1,909
Swiped from Reddit. I am grabbing the article now and will share when I am able. I highly recommend you read the article in Edge Magazine. I can't link it because it's not freely available and I believe that honest work should be compensated. It's clear that Edge does not have the same partnership with Activision that Game Informer does. That's a good thing. If you want to read it but refuse to pay, download the app and get your first issue free. It's actually a great app and publication in general. To sum it up, Luke Smith, among many others, admit the flaws in year one, and the misconceptions about their relationship with Activision, $500 million, and the 10-year-plan. That is to say, the 10-year-plan is not that at all. It's a 10-year contract. There is an enormous difference. They do not have a plan for the entire series. They are writing it as we speak. With our help. And to those who think Bungie is this cloak and dagger studio filled to the brim with developers scheming how to rob us, this article begs to differ. Could they have dispelled many misconceptions much earlier? Absolutely. This is not to suggest Bungie can do no wrong, only that mistakes were made and Bungie is very aware of their shortcomings. It's very humanizing, and I think that's all any of us loyalists ever wanted in the face of an incomplete game. Ever since the throwing money at the screen incident, Luke Smith has become increasingly more visible, and consequently more human. This article reinforced my suspicion that Smith is adamantly invested in the integrity and quality of his work, not in the bathing of dollars. But lets be real... we all like more dollars. The same goes for the developer who said something along the lines of "$500 million? I don't know anything about that. I drive a Honda Civic." These are regular people working towards our shared enjoyment. In short, I think this article does a great job in highlighting how invested they are in creating a unique experience and a complete universe for us to play around in. Some will remain skeptical and impossible to please. I don't begrudge that perspective, sometimes too little too late is a very real stance. I may be a blind optimist, but for the first time in a while, I feel as though that senseless optimism is being validated. I salute you Bungie, for offering a very difference kind of interview with Edge Magazine, for opening up to us a little more, for making the only game I have played in many many months, and for the Hawkmoon I can't seem to put down in the crucible. Can you imagine how sick this game will be when they drop last-gen? Holy shit. I look to the future of Destiny with much hope. TL;DR- Edge interview with Bungie sheds light on year one failures and humanizes Luke Smith. Very reaffirming for those who were on the fence about buying TTK. edit- Subscribe or sign up here[1] or whatever. Luke Smith is still a twat though. Luke 23:34 'And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they don't think it be like it is, but it do."
