anyone tried them out yet??? I "borrowed" this info from the "other site"

enjoy!!!

So, today there was a new patch with most of you guys are angry about, because it patched the Atheon push off. But, it seems to be that our beloved Postmaster has brought us some gifts as well.

If you go to the Postmaster in the Tower, you will have received a package containing 3 "Jackolytes". Some of you may have been (or still are) confused about what they are exactly, so i'm here to tell you what they are. If you press start then go to your inventory and hover over the "Jackolytes" you will see this: The Hive may haunt the dreams of children, but you haunt the dreams of the Hive you will also see that it says hold X (or square if PS user) to use, meaning its a consumable.

If you use it/consume it you will see that you get this very cool Hive styles pumpkin on your head, in addition to that it only last 30 minutes, so use it wisely. As far as I can tell it is only for aesthetic purposes, meaning no buffs. None the less it looks really cool, and on top of that you hear spooky screams whilst wearing it. Thanks for reading, and Happy Halloween! :D

Edit: As IvaliceGilgamesh quoted "People it's a glimmer increase, you can get them to drop from hive enemies as well (majors)". Whether or not this is true I have not been able to confirm, but it makes perfect sense!

Hmm, interesting. They must have some sort of buff or they wouldn't have a 30 minute limit. Well, at least I wouldn't give them a 30 minute limit, just make them like TF2 holiday items and make them unusable after a certain date and then maybe trade them in for a cool gun you can only obtain halloweeen 2014. See, I think my video games would be awesome but then again I can't make them :P

I can't remember what game used to do this but you got special loot at holiday times if you played between certain dates or completed certain holiday missions. Must be from MMOs...

I played City of Heroes for years and they did events all year round. Zombie apocolypse for Halloween, Evil Santas at Xmas, Evil Bunnies at Easter etc etc..

Special powers, missions and loot was available over the event duration. And if you did enough of whatever over the period it gave you a permanent asthetic thing for a status symbol.

That was really cool.....man i miss that game!

Exactly, I love games that do this and when people see your gear it'll say "obtained Christmas 2012" or something similar. People would be "Damn, I wish I had gone and done that or been there for that"

I'm starting to think I've gone back to the good old Runescape days with where I remember it from. I know WoW and GW2 often do it too. Not sure about shooters and what not though.

that sounds like it was a really cool thing to look out for and do through all the holidays... I really wish Bungie would do special events or strikes, etc to conincide with the holidays... that would be awesome...
