  1. A game for Xbox and PC it looks like. Very XIII-esque and looks really fun.
  2. I was supposed to post this a while back as it got me giddy excited as Robocop was one of kind of fictional heroes (because of the original film and the Amstrad CPC 464 game). If they get his HUD working in the way like the movies, I'd like to think its a must buy for me. Its also based on the original movies 35 years ago which definitely helps as the newer version just didn't hit me the way the old one does. Anyway, trailer for starters with some concept art. Still a way to go to wait for this one as it states 2023.
  3. This one dropped today on PC, Xbox and Game Pass. An interesting FPS by the creators of Rick and Morty. I downloaded it and I'll give it a go tonight but it's been receiving some mixed reviews so far. It's been called a "sloppy shooter" or "generic shooter" and the humour bits are either hit or miss depending on the player. Thank god it's on GP then. Lol
  4. From EA Originals (so you know, brace yourself 😄) a new single player, FPS. The developers have made Dead Space remake though and that has had rave reviews, so it could be a potential hit and there is some vibrant gameplay on the trailer below. Out on July 20th 2023, I imagine on all platforms as its from EA. Thoughts everyone?
  5. This one just released this past Thursday, and it's a really fun "shoot to the beat" FPS to the sounds of a kick ass metal/rock soundtrack that progressively gets fuller as your score multiplier increases. It has a doom-ish setting where you played as a recently freed demon that was imprisoned by the devil. Troy Baker, voice of Joel from TLoU as well as many other games, provides narration over game while you fire away. There are some rouge-lite elements, where you unlock weapons via progress throughout the game, but as to the variety of said weapons, I'm not to sure yet as I've only reached the second area of the game. Gameplay is really fast and fluid, especially on PS5 in resolution mode. I'd imagine the same would be said for a top end PC and series X. I'll be getting into it a bit more over the weekend, but this has been one that @Rumelylady and myself have been looking forward to for quite some time.
  6. Riot Games, known for their MOBA, League of Legends, has a few new games coming out. They're working on a mobile League of Legends, a FPS, a card game, and a fighting game. All of them seem pretty cool. I'm a big fan of League of Legends, so I'm excited, but I'm interested in what you guys think? I especially like what I heard toward the end of the Project A video. They discussed lag, ping, etc. and how they want to fix those issues once and for all. Thoughts??? Project A - FPS Fighting Game League of Legends - Mobile Runeterra - Card Game
  7. I just watched the trailer for this game, and it looks like it could be a lot of fun. Anyone else check this out? Thoughts? Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is the first military shooter set in a massive and responsive open world, entirely playable in 4 player co-op or solo. Coming to PS4, Xbox ONE and PC. Bolivia, a few years from now. The country has become the largest cocaine producer in the world. The Santa Blanca drug cartel has turned the country into a narco-state, leading to lawlessness, injustice, and violence. The Ghosts, an elite US Special Forces team, is sent behind enemy lines to wreak havoc and takedown the cartel.
  8. If you have 20 minutes give it a watch. Great perspective

    Verdun

Any PC players tried this out? Its coming out on Tuesday (30th August) for PS4 with the xbox version being slightly delayed. It has a very good rating on steam and its a World War 1 FPS so I'm pretty bemused to why it hasn't been talked about. Clearly is the only alternative to the upcoming BF1 which I'm sure it won't match up but nevertheless it looks a solid FPS. Verdun Console Announcement Trailer
  10. BY BRIAN ALBERT Today at BlizzCon 2014, Blizzard announced its first new franchise in 17 years, Overwatch. It's a team-based, 6v6 multiplayer shooter with a focus on "fun, over-the-top" characters. The game was introduced with a gorgeous CG trailer showing off Pixar-like animation of the Overwatch, "An elite international task force charged with ending the war and restoring liberty to all nations." You can check out the trailer below. Overwatch is set on a near-future Earth, with a cast of heroes including "mercenaries, scientists, and adventurers" that do battle in arenas like the streets of London or the pyramids of Egypt. Following the announcement, we were shown a video of Overwatch's gameplay. One team prepared defenses while the opposing team used a variety of powers and skills to capture objectives. Some characters are equipped with healing streams, others carry around massive energy shields, and others can toss down turrets. Tracer, for example, is a former British test pilot who can teleport, drop bombs, and reverse time. Another character, WInston, is a genius ape who uses a jetpack to take to the rooftops and storm into battle. 12 heroes are playable at BlizzCon, with more to come. Check back later for our impressions. The beta is coming in 2015. You can sign up at playoverwatch.com. First person - teambased FPS. Beta - 2015 6v6 team compositions Payload and Capturepoint(territories) maps No Team Death Match Slower death than current military shooters non-twitch shooter style characters "Hero focused. not role focused"
  11. What are your first impressions of Destiny? Personally I am really enjoying it. So much to learn though. It looks and feels amazing. Bungie makes a class act game. Everything is so fluid. I find myself stopping to look at scenery and surroundings. Cannot wait to get more into the game. My only complaint, if you want to call it a complaint, is the horizontal movement is a little sluggish. Other than that it feels great. Only did PvE with Tommy but I'm ready for more. I haven't felt like that in a while about a game.

    FPS Maps

So, I was browsing Reddit and found an interesting thread talking about FPS games and their multiplayer maps. The thread can be found here. "As "realistic" shooters continue to trend, I find that they all share one aspect that stifles its intentions. In this particular example I was playing Insurgency, which is a quasi-realistic shooter running on the source engine. I have a very hard time competing on some of the maps because since it's a one life per round sort of thing (at least in some game modes) involving capturing points, the players that know the map they are playing in and know all the convenient corners and vantage points have an edge. I realized that has simply been the story of every FPS ever, map awareness is a huge factor especially when the game is very unforgiving in terms of damage and realism. What would be great if there was a realism-focused FPS that put two teams against each other on a randomly or procedurally generated map, so that every match involves the unknown of where the enemies might be hiding. Aside from the new challenge of every room being an unknown, it would then prompt the use and/or implementation of gear is otherwise used in the same fashion every round. Now you wont have 10 frag grenades being thrown into the main conflict room. You wont have flashbangs being tossed around the same corner every match. You'll have to listen, communicate, and decide what room should be breached with a bang and what areas should be traversed in silence. I think perhaps one of the biggest issues would be making it work. It's hard to imagine how you could make procedurally generated CQB style maps that would be interesting and detailed. What do you think, should an FPS try and give us a fresh experience every match, to keep us on our toes?" I'm not sure how I feel about the topic. I see can points for both sides. I would love to eliminate the commonly used camping spots, spawn grenade toss places, etc., but on the other hand, there's a skill in learning the maps/spawns/etc. Do you guys think that this could be the future in FPS maps? Or do you think people would always choose the tried method of standard maps that can be memorized? Thoughts?
  13. The Hunter is version of the Rogue or Thief. Their armour to cloth ratio is 50:50. They are specialists at stealth and long range fighting, but are just as leathal with their blade. They were once outlaws, prowling in the wilderness and wastelands. Now, bending the rules and being as 'resourceful' as they are comes in handy. Unique Features: The Hunter wields a combat knife for quiet, close-quarter kills. The Titan class is the walking tank. It is Bungie's Sci-Fi Warrior or Barbarian. They have a 80:20 armour to cloth ratio and specialize in heavy weapons as well as light machine guns. They were the ones who built the Wall and they were the ones who gave their lives to hold it during the Collapse of the Golden Age. They are forged from strength and sacrifice, being as merciless as their enemies. The Warlock is your classic Mage, but with a Bungie twist. They can use weapons as well as magic, making it so you can master both without being weaker that the other classes. They have a 20:80 armour cloth ratio. By studying the Traveler and learning to control some of its magical energies, the Warlocks came to be. While the true purpose of the Traveler and its abilities, including the ones granted to you, remain a mystery, discovering the truth has always driven you into the unknown. http://www.ign.com/wikis/destiny/Classes
  14. UPCOMING VEHICLE TWEAKS Aircraft and Anti-Aircraft 1) Reduced the total amount of missiles carried by the Mobile Anti-Aircraft vehicles from 6 to 4. The total carried missiles were making it impossible for helicopters to use counter measures to avoid the MAA’s attacks. 2) Reduced the velocity of the MAA’s default 20MM CANNON from 1200m/s to 800m/s to match the 30MM CANNON. This reduction reduces the distance projectiles will travel and should prevent situations where the MAA could engage enemy vehicles without leaving its protected home base. The damage of the cannons remains unchanged, and aircraft, especially helicopters, should remain wary of getting too close to a MAA. 3) Reduced the physical impact of all Anti-Aircraft missiles to prevent helicopters from flipping uncontrollably when hit. The damage values have not been changed. 4) Reduced the cone in which ACTIVE RADAR missiles search for targets, making them require a higher level of skill in predicting where a target will be when the missile is fired. The missiles were previously too easy to aim at long range, making them a guaranteed hit and a clear advantage over the other missile types. 5) Increased the direct damage done by the Attack Helicopter’s gunner cannon. The gunner will be better able to assist the pilot in taking down vehicle targets with this change. 6) Increased the direct hit damage of the Zuni Rockets for Attack Helicopters. The rate of fire of these rockets combined with their smaller magazine pool made them a poor choice over the other two rocket types. 7) Reduced the splash damage and maximum splash damage range of the Scout Helicopter 25MM CANNONS. These weapons were too effective against infantry with a higher splash, making them a clear choice over the 7.62 MINIGUNS in all combat situations. The 25MM CANNONS are intended to give the Scout Helicopter some measure of effectiveness against vehicles, at a clear trade off in effectiveness vs. infantry. Tanks and Anti-Tank 1) Reduced the “intelligence” of the MBT LAW missiles, requiring the player to aim the missile closer to their target before the smart projectile will activate. Additionally, the MBT LAW now reloads slightly slower. This keeps the MBT LAW in its role of an easy to use, fire and forget weapon available to all Engineers, while also balancing it with the other rocket launchers in favor of skilled AT shots. Finally, a bug where the MBT LAW would pass through an ACTIVE PROTECTION shield has been fixed. 2) Fixed an issue where ACTIVE PROTECTION and the MP-APS did not properly stop 12G FRAG rounds. 3) Reduced the range where the M2 SLAM will do maximum damage to vehicles from 6M to 3M. Players will now need to be craftier when placing the M2 SLAM in order to get the full damage potential of this ambush anti vehicle weapon. This change is to primarily counter a tactic of placing 3 mines in the same spot to guarantee a kill on any vehicle passing within 6m. The range was deemed to be too large, making the M2 SLAM far superior to the M15 AT MINE. 4) Reduced the damage the STAFF shell does to all targets by 25%. This should balance the ease of use of the STAFF shell with its damage potential. Source:http://blogs.battlefield.com/2014/01/bf4-balancing-vehicles/
  15. So what's you first impressions of Ghosts?
  16. One billion dollars (in my best Dr. Evil voice) in sales on day one. Battlefield who? Activision today announced that Ghosts has earned a record $1B (to retail) in one day. Call of Duty: Ghosts is Gamestop’s Most-Preordered Next Gen Title Call of Duty: Ghosts Takes over the #1 Spot on Xbox Live Call of Duty: Ghosts Sets New High Watermark for Average Player Session Length SANTA MONICA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that the company sold more than $1 billion of Call of Duty®: Ghosts into retail stores worldwide as of day one. “Call of Duty is by far the largest console franchise of this generation,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “More people have played Call of Duty this year than ever before, logging four billion hours of gameplay. And in the last 12 months, Call of Duty®: Black Ops II, including its digital content, generated more revenues than any other console game ever has in a single year. Although it is too early to assess sell-through for Call of Duty: Ghosts, it’s launching at a time when the franchise has never been more popular.” Millions of people are already playing Call of Duty: Ghosts online. Since its release yesterday, Call of Duty: Ghosts has moved to the #1 spot as the most played game on Xbox Live, according to Microsoft. Additionally, Activision confirmed that on the Xbox 360 videogames and entertainment system from Microsoft, average player sessions for Ghosts have been longer than either Black Ops II or Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3, during the same time period. Call of Duty: Ghosts launched at 15,000 midnight openings around the world. Fans around the world shared their excitement in social media, with Call of Duty-related terms trending an astounding 20 times globally on Twitter in the last 24 hours. “Ghosts is an amazing game which ushers in the next generation of Call of Duty. The team at Infinity Ward has delivered yet another epic thrill ride in the campaign, and what I think is our best multiplayer game yet,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “This is the must have launch title for the next generation of consoles, and we expect Call of Duty: Ghosts to be the most successful launch title for the Xbox One and PS4 by a wide margin. In fact, according to GameStop, Call of Duty: Ghosts is their most pre-reserved next gen title.” http://www.charlieintel.com/2013/11/06/call-of-duty-ghosts-earns-1b-in-one-day/
  17. The Thunderlord The Thunderlord is so dangerous a weapon that it poses an equal threat to the Guardian behind it as it does to the enemies that appear downrange. This heavy exotic is a foolish aberration, tinkered with in ways few can fully understand. The result of this meddlesome hubris is a beast you can barely control. Given the erratic nature of this augmented armament, it is decidedly rare. According to Art Lead Tom Doyle, the Thunderlord is a desperate measure on the part of a society that grew weary of being outgunned. “The ammunition is some kind of monster that they wouldn't normally use," Doyle warns. "The use of electro-static rounds over this amplitude has been prohibited due to their volatility.” Vital missions beg of some room to bend the rules. So far, Bungie devs have wielded this belt-fed menace on quests in Los Angeles and Cologne, Germany. On both occasions, it performed with explosive success. “Justin Hayward really brought the weapon to life with the lighting effects in the eleventh hour before E3,” recalls Doyle. “It is a great example of how vital effects are for exotic weapons in first person.” It’s also a great example of how to delight a crowd. A Guardian gains the right to add the Thunderlord to their inventory by proving that they’re worthy of its firepower. Once earned, it will have to be put to prudent use before its full potential can be realized. After all, you don’t just deploy explosive ammunition on the first date. Like many of the implements in your armory, this is a gun worthy of a long-term relationship. Disclaimer: Destiny is a work in progress!
  18. Post any videos you find for Ghosts and would like to share http://youtu.be/wpmxDVgq55E Warhawk MP map-TDM http://youtu.be/uOfe2v-1feU Ali-A compilation
  19. With Call of Duty Ghost just a little over a month away, what are your expectations for it. Do you think it will be something new and enjoyable or the same old CoD with poor connection and over hyped, well everything. I'm not overly excited about Ghost like in previous years installments of CoD. Maybe its due to getting burnt out on BO2. Maybe its because we hear so much hype building up to it and it seems to let me down year after year. It may be I'm growing tired of the series. A lot of it has to do with connection but no change seems to be in the future. What are your thought on it?

    BF3

I played a bit of this on the PS3 a while back, never really got into it because all the twats I play with were all on COD. Now on PC, I've been playing a bit with Levi and Squiggs, and it's fantastic fun. There are still pepole that play like little bitches with their SMAWs and camping, but at least it's good fun enough to tie me over to BF4. Having said that, last time I spent some proper hours playing an FPS on PC was UT2004, that's about 6 years ago. It's going to take some getting used to the mouse and keyboard again, playing anything other than an FPS I can do reasonable well, but my reaction time sare still a bit on the low side and I always over or undershoot when aiming. Practice makes perfect I suppose, and this is excellent training for the next bunch of games. Great fun.
