    Hello All

Hi, was recommended to this site by "Plumbers Crack". I'm a 50 year young gamer, been gaming probably 40+ years. Main console now is PS5, sometimes on PC too. Still wasting time on Destiny 2. Anyone wanna shoot some aliens in the face, send me a DM/friend request

    Video game club

I don't know if this will get any interest as most people are here for multiplayer gaming but thought I'd give it a try. I was thinking it might be a nice idea to try doing a game club similar to how a book club runs, we all vote on a relatively inexpensive single player story driven game to buy and play through over the course of a couple of months and then jump on chat one night a week or even discuss it in here and how we are getting on with it, what we are enjoying and not enjoying etc etc, talk about the writing, the story etc. Would that peak anyone's interest? With games such as Baldurs gate down the road where you can approach things so differently it could be good fun I thought. Anyway, yeah will see if there's any interest first 🙂

    FG Feedback Time

I'm overall pretty happy with how things are, but I do agree with Luseth. Some areas are not being used as much. Maybe due to interest or general knowledge of existence. Maybe trim some fat, keep the majority of what we have tho. I think the "Your Picks" for cod maps and guns isn't really worthwhile. It was a good idea, but we can easily discuss such things in topics or vote on polls. I think that we could get shot of it. I do admire the work and effort of especially Lee, that he puts in here. If anyone has geniuene good ideas for things to add, I think we should look at what can we rid of first. But the current layout, features etc we have are really good. It's something that has improved on vastly over time.

  5. SIFU was my second favourite game from 2022, behind only God of War Ragnarok! I adored SIFU and it remains one of my proudest platinum trophies! Highly recommend people try it if you haven’t yet, now is the perfect time!!

    Dragons Dogma 2

Another promising game that's had a miserable launch which will sour it permanently. This time a disgusting amount of microtransactions along with aggressive Denuvo implementation and performance issues. Literally charging $2 just to edit your character! Never got the original despite it's cult success but it just defies belief how companies literally ruin their new game for the sake of greed. It's not like Capcom need the money either and it's a full price bloody game too!

  11. This is brilliant, thank you all so far. I've known for a while we have underutilised sections and its a cyclical thing really. We really removed things over time to make it simplistic and then I added new features on top over time to keep the place fresh and worth coming back to it. This feedback really helps work out where we can potentially remove certain areas off the main focus when they don't seem to be being used and try and circulate more key features. I think I've always been clear on one principle that has to stay for FG to work for me and that's the website being our main HOME. WhatsApp is chill and great for connecting, as is Discord, but its not personable as this place as is viewed as 'your place', not standardised bland group chats. One thing is for sure, I need to pick Announcements again, which are similar to what Welchy picks up around what's on. It was essentially a notification system of telling you all there's some new shit this week, go and check it out. It was just something that takes a while to get used to doing because everything requires time. Time around work, life, home, kids, etc. We can all make time though, if we want stuff to work. And I'd love to try yet another way of getting more people involved, I won't stop trying different ways to ask people if they want to get in on the FG act - just note that's its not the first I've asked everyone so its on everyone to recognise that a little more stepping up to the plate is all that's needed for FG to grow and flourish. So with that in mind, whilst I take some thought on some changes, let this be the place for the first way to gather interest on who would love to be involved in this stuff. Even if its just one small part of FG, it all counts. Remember, there's many things where people can immediately add value by just going into that section and creating or interacting with it. Quizzes, for example, ANYONE can create one if you are an FGer. I have also linked very many medals and achievements for interacting with this type of stuff, including responding to Events so it all counts, especially if you can see a nice shiny medal on your FG profile. Please keep the feedback coming in here everyone - its great we've had 4 comments above but more feedback and dialogue in here between us all will really help get things going at FG 👊

  13. FA Cup Quarter Finals were pretty insane this weekend - Wolves 2-3 Coventry, Man City 2-0 Newcastle (yawn) Jammy Chelsea 4-2 Leicester and Man Utd 4-3 Liverpool. Really enjoyed watching all those games minus the City one which I comfortably ignored.

  22. A great idea Matt - we did try it briefly before but as always its about getting enough people behind the idea. Its likely it would work best if its maybe 1 game a month and as you say, something cheap or free to get involved in that we can all focus efforts on to have a good chinwag over it on here. We also did FG Film Club like this but I noticed doing it weekly was a hard slog (although would love to see that back too). Loving the ideas of FG scores. I've never found a way yet to record them in a smarter way but that doesn't stop us sticking them on posts like Phil has mentioned. I think if you can have a think of some certain games that could be potentials to maximise the amount of people that could get involved in this, lets then see if we can make it work for the upcoming month perhaps! Nice one Matt! @Luseth

  25. A nice idea, could be up for it depending on games chosen and time available. Maybe a part of the conversation could be to agree an FG review score for the game out of 10 or 100 whatever...and post it on the forum.

    Video game club

I think it’s a great idea! I have always wanted to be involved in something like that but have either never found the right group or never found the time or organise it myself. I think we would have to work out some logistics etc but definitely put me down as interested. I would suggest one way to do would be to try and pick games that are on a subscription service (Gamepass, ps plus, EA play etc), that way the majority of people can play the game for free using the service they are already paying for, therefore not spending money just for this. I know not everyone will subscribe to these services and if not we can still try to find a cheap game on the service? One potential idea is recording a review/discussion video. It will be difficult to arrange but if we could find a time where everyone (or the majority) could spare an hour or so to join up on discord and record a conversation reviewing and discussing the game. To upload to a Forever Gaming YouTube channel? Just a thought.

    FG Feedback Time

As a newer member to the site, I would say the main thing I notice is that there seems to be a lot of underused features. I wonder if there could be an easier way to keep up to date with what’s going on in the community without having to go through all the different tabs and forums? Could we have a ‘features’ or ‘what’s on’ page, which highlights the main events going on. The page could show the next and upcoming FG events, a hot topic from the forums, latest videos being uploaded, new quiz posted etc etc. It wouldn’t even have to be the most recent posts and not everything posted needs to be featured, but if there is a forum post that you or any moderators here think is worthy of being ‘front page news’. Essentially a place that just makes it easier for members to see what is going on. I often forget to look at the events tab and don’t even know until this post that there was a quiz tab!! I quite like @Luseth idea of having certain members being responsible for certain areas too.

    FG Feedback Time

I somewhat agree with @Luseth, less is more sometimes. Which is probably why the WhatsApp and Discord chats do so well. Easy to use and takes no effort whatsoever. The forum is a good example of this on the website. I think unless it benefits people they’re not going to use it, a good example of this is the events… it takes so much effort to get people to click one button because it does nothing for them. I, as most others probably do, use FG as an archive and large discussions space. If you want to create more movement it needs to be a tool to either create discussion (competing with WhatsApp) or create/share content like videos or games/quizzes/competitions.

  31. Whilst some may not think its as challenging as the super hard games we expect, Hogwarts Legacy has one of the most satisfying gameplay controls to play with in an RPG. I've managed to find this small clip online that shows a small part into the spells and combos, including how you can flip to flying so easily mid-battle. There's so many combo spells to choose from, it really is a whole lot of fun. Smooth is the perfect word for it. No wonder it was the biggest selling game of 2023.

  35. So I finally watched the beekeeper, now it's a Statham film so you know what your getting but for me that's fine as I like his stuff and it's pure brain out entertainment. I also watched, back to back the new road house and the original. Now for me it's the original hands down but I have to say the remake wasn't as bad as I expected if you can get past Jake Gyllenhal fighting Connor McGregor 🤔 however not sure we should see McGregor acting again either 😉. However not a waste of 2 hours.

  37. The whole weekend of football was a delight to watch, maybe with the exception of the Man City game. Incredible cup ties, and what the FA Cup is supposed to be all about. For any neutral watching football for the first time, that was pinnacle football drama at its best. Fair play to all the ones that got through too. Every winner felt like they did enough in my eyes to win their cup ties.

    Grey Zone Warfare

Some of the folk making this used to be devs at Bohemia, i.e. they worked on Arma and DayZ, which is a plus for me. It's looking like it's going to be a great game, can't wait to get a go on it. One of the annoyances with Tarkov is extraction camping, it's not massively prevalent in my experience, only on a couple of maps where there are only a few extractions available...but looks like that's almost totally negated in this game.

  42. Yep, plus the mods that put all three games together are free, you don't even need to have any of the games anymore as they're in the mod files 🤪 Weird how this just dropped without any publicity but I'll be interested to find any console reviews and what kind of improvements have been made.

  44. Every so often I stumble upon, or revisit a game which is just the equivalent of crack in terms of highly enjoyable and pulsating combat. These games just have that extra something which really stands out and where the combat shines mechanically and even visually. Off the top of my head, I'd say 3 games which really stand out are:- Metal Gear Rising - fast paced, responsive, smooth and incredibly satisfying melee-based combat. F.E.A.R - inspired by Max Payne's bullet time feature but with additional immersion thanks to the first person perspective. Max Payne 3 - bullet time never gets old plus the attention to detail and environmental effects look spectacular. There's probably loads more that I've forgotten about but what are your standout games that just have that little bit more in terms of the combat?
    3 points
  45. Ashamed to say I haven’t played those 3 games! I believe I played a little bit of Fear 2 but don’t recall much of it! For me the first game that comes to mind is SIFU. I really fell in love with the combat in this game, learning to master the game was both challenging and rewarding, and beating it and earning the platinum was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in gaming! Some other games that come to mind are Control, and going back further I would say Splinter Cell Conviction (although I’m not sure if the gameplay still holds up today!)

  46. It was great to finally get to play with some of you guys last night! I tried my best to keep up with you! This game is a blast and I’m now motivated to reach the higher levels to get some of the better stratagems that you lot were using! Looking forward to what they do with future updates too!

@Riff Machine I have been listening to these on and off via spotify depending on what topic I am fancying. I have only just realised that there are none on there from about May last year, is this intentional? I.e. if I want to listen to any later ones it needs to be via youtube?
