    No Man's Sky

@GazzaGarratt and I were talking about NMS the other day and wanted to start a thread. I've completed the platinum trophy for this a few years ago. I was one of the few who stuck with them during the darker days. It's a brilliant and magnificent game and always has been in my opinion. There has been so much more added since I've played that it's worth another playthrough. Lots of neat building ideas, world's to explore. It's super chill and a great change of pace. Thoughts?

    No Man's Sky

Their lies about it being multiplayer were excellent for me as I ended up with the game for £5, on PS and PC. It is a nice chill game but I've only played a few hours on each. I hear there is some limited multiplayer these days but not sure what that entails.

    Happy Birthdays!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Sorry I’m late in thanking everyone.

  4. Having a bit of time this morning, I jumped on to see if I could get a power level increase by running that stupid preservation mission. During that run, I realized just how much bungie completely ruined power progression with the whole "pinnacle/powerful" drop nonsense. Let's go back to the end of Destiny 1 and the beginning of D2. In both cases, it didn't matter what you did, whether that be strikes, crucible, missions, vanguard rank up, etc. You were ALWAYS guaranteed a power/light level increase depending on RNG of course. So, if I had very little time to play on a certain day, I could jump on. Fly down to the cosmodrome. Run some patrols until my vanguard rank went up and boom. A guaranteed drop that had a chance to be better then something I currently had. Vanilla D2 was similar, and yes, I realize there wasn't much to do then, you still at least felt like you were making progress regardless. That's one of my biggest issues right now with Destiny is making progress. When this ridiculous change was made to hamper power level progression with the pinnacle system, It instantly put most casual/solo players at a disadvantage because now, they couldn't do those little things here and there that would offer increases in power by say, replaying a story mission or ranking up the vanguard. Which was another thing that also burned everyone was having those drops be reduced to 10-15 below current power level. Locking a lot of the power progression behind higher difficulty activities is so flawed as a lot of people will simply not do them. Having the freedom of choice to do whatever and make progress is taken, pun intended, away simply to artificially extend play time has not only ruined a lot of what made this game so good in the past, but also turned a lot of veterans players away from it. I could go on about a lot more, but for the most part, I want my time respected. As it stands right now, jumping on for a half hour isn't worth it if I can't make any progression in power level. This system needs to be dropped IMO.

    No Man's Sky

You only really get one chance to impress me these days and their release all those years ago was absolutely disgraceful so I've had no interest in the game ever since. I am happy they have improved it drastically over the years though because of all the people that originally bought into it and were let down horrendously. They certainly had a legal and moral obligation to deliver what they promised because they made a ludicrous amount of money from what was pretty much lies. Although they did include some of what they originally pitched in years of updates and further development, it still doesn't take away the absolute horseshit they promoted and also doesn't come close the experience they originally envisaged. They've definitely structured the updates well though and haven't rushed content to appease which is good. There's also a bad smell with Sean Murray and Hello Games that I cannot shift - I don't know how they managed to delude so many people prior to release or how they got away with it through the media because it was like they were under a spell yet many of us could see that the game was going to be very limited and that 99% of things marketed didn't exist seemingly. It's now being regarded as a major success story but the circumstances behind it are very fortunate and generous. I don't think I'll play it but people getting it now on the cheap should have a reasonable experience.

    Elden Ring

Yeah, I think my first play through was about 105 hours, went for the age of stars ending. I just need two more endings to complete platinum. I didn’t back up my save so I’ll probably beat it on new game plus then start a fresh play for the last ending.

Yeah the 2 hand mechanic took some getting used to, but it became pretty natural after a while.

  8. Ironically, I just picked up the latest issue of Game Informer and I hate how they've laid out the magazine now. Lol

  10. This one was my go to. Always loved seeing what cheat codes they had in there for that month too 😄 In fact, I kept a few old Cheat books that came with mags for my early consoles as they are such cool things to have built into these early games. Wish this was more of a thing over here. Never seen it but always wanted to as it does get some decent information exclusive to them from time to time. Super thread @J4MES OX4D ! I may dig out what I can find and post it up here!

  11. I loved monthly VG mags! I would go out almost every week and buy up whatever issue was out at the time. EGM, PSM, Official Xbox, Official Dreamcast, Gameinformer. I always enjoyed seeing different mags reviews on the same games just to have those differing opinions. I still pick up gameinformer evry so often, but it really isn’t the same anymore. Most of these sites/mags show so much favouritism that actually shitting on a bad game is frowned upon. Especially if the developer/publisher paid for a good review.
