Looking good squire.  There's a limited number of tracks so will always be hard to avoid repeats.  Though I think all tracks can be run in reverse which could spice things up - Mount Panorama or Le Mans in reverse would be ........ interesting.

The first date for this is looking like 15 July. Everyone should be back and available by then.

The late start to the season means we will be doing 2 league races each week!

I'll set up a calendar event for it later today.

Great stuff Phil, appreciate the heads up.

GT people, get your shizzle together and get some practice this week with us on Thursday before the first week next week. Should be a great laugh, not just the league race too. Lets try and get full grids everytime too - essentially there should be 10 spots filled most weeks from the regulars for at least one race so i'm sure 6 more people can turn up each week out of the people that were interested before!

First few weeks have been a great turnout so far. Lots of racing and swapping positions and fun overall. Personally, had a great first week and a bad second week.

With more of us online we're definitely more likely to have more mishaps so I'm keeping fingers crossed it'll balance out in the end!

Oh, and thanks Nick @Bluebear  for filling in to be teammates @JBR-Kiwi . Also great to see @Diddums turn up again alongside @LordBaguette who was even more impressive cos he didn't CBA!

1st race this week was an absolute disaster for me which kind of started off as early as the practice.

I had done about 5 laps the previous night to learn the circuit in GR3 and had got down very quickly into 39s which was promising and then come race day couldn’t get anywhere near that and was even struggling to break the 41sec barrier in quali.

And then the race happened...

After apparently walking under a ladder whilst smashing a mirror and crossing Luna my black cat, I got the mother load of bad luck and a reasonable start ended up with me getting knocked into the gravel at the first corner and then then unfortunately rear ended at high speed at the chicane, which left my race in tatters, especially on a track like Sardegna. Just one of those things unfortunately ☹️

2nd race was a complete surprise considering my lack of pace at Monza but I think there’s a different BOP for ovals compared to normal circuits, but either way the beetles high cornering speed really helped overcome my limits in straight line speed.

So overall a mixed result with the circuit I expected to do well in ending poorly and the oval I expected to struggle on I ended up doing well

The joys of GT Sport!

Now you mention it, I do vaguely recall something about a different BOP for ovals.  It would certainly go some way to explain the speed of your Beetle.  I fully expected the lead to be between myself and Phil (and anyone else that managed to keep the tow) as the Toyota and Nissan both have great top speeds while you would be nowhere.

It's a shame you've had a couple of bad races as it's fun racing you though in your absence Mike has been keeping me company and it was a good race for the lead.  The Supra is a pig to get off the line and left me chasing Mike for the lead and, while I could easily follow and I knew my ultimate pace was faster, around Sardegna is was tricky to find somewhere to pass and I only did when Mike made a mistake.  A mistake from me almost let Mike back in it too but luckily for me it was as the hairpin so didn't leave any room for Mike to pass and ending up costing him time too.  I then banged in the fastest lap of the race to open the gap but damn it if wasn't a close run thing for most of the race.  I have to say, I don't like Mike having this ideas of grandeur of finishing higher than third, it's unnatural 😄

Regarding your times though Kiwi, did you enable BoP? The amount of times I've tested in time trial and been happy with my times to only realise I failed to enable BoP.  Saying that though, there is some weird thing about different sessions or game modes giving different grip (or something else) as times can vary so much.  I think it was the Gr2 race at Alsace last season, practising with Phil the night before and going great.  But come practise before the race, I couldn't get within 2 seconds of my times of the night before.  Qualifying starts and instantly match my practise times from the night before again.

yeah I never use Time trial if I do any practicing because to me it feels like the difference between playing on LAN vs online so it will also give you the feeling of more grip and car responsiveness when turning and on the brakes. That could be just a placebo effect of course...

If I want to try the circuit I will always try and set it up as an online lobby with BOP being the first thing turned on as I have been caught out with that before!

Looking back, I think I was struggling to exit cleanly through the corners especially onto any of the high speed straights which was punishing me massively due to the beetles poor top end.

Gutted 2 tracks i think I could of gained some points on but only to have a visitor so both my sons raced for me just so I can atleast gain some points but can't complain really these things happen.

Again I apologise if either of my sons took anyone out.

I was gutted for you buddy, I think we've seen you improve over recent weeks so hopefully you can be back in the pack this week! And don't apologise for them, they weren't a bother at all 🙂

My youngest did mention about the language which he found funny with my reply nothing you haven't said before and heard from his room while he's on his console.

Looking forward to tomorrow's racing, hopefully just having a clean race with no spins barrier hits would be a positive outcome as we go into the Gr4 category!

Anyone else had a look at the tracks at all?

Well, Gr.4 is a bit of a struggle in the Nissan but enjoyed both races last night despite poor performance on my part.

Great to see Paul and Nick getting better. In fact @Bluebear had serious pace at Suzuka 🙂

First race was not that far from the pack and my self and @Bluebear had a nice battle swapping places a few times.

Second race I was going to attempt a no pit run only to start on super softs and ran out of fuel just as I crossed the line.

Couldn't agree more that Gr.4 is a struggle. For me, it clearly shows the VW and Peugeot are miles ahead in that class. I think @Lurch  and myself did the best we could to get some points for our Porsche team, being on the limit so much but just couldn't catch up @Mikepjbell  and @JBR-Kiwi , even in a straight line with a tow. First race I felt great and super solid, just annoyed that I gave slightly too much room for a very late point for Mike to get past me, especially with just 3 or 4 quick laps left. You live and learn for next week 😄

Second race I chose to run Softs and save fuel so I didn't have to pit. It actually looked a great decision and I think I would've been in the race for 3rd if I hadn't had the most weirdest of spins on the fast straight. It was like a spin on a wet F1 race, must've touched abit of ashpalt off the racing line and it completely lost the car and into the barrier. 15 seconds lost at least but at the end I finished just less than that behind Mike. Never looked forward to getting back to Gr.3 next week as much as now! 😄

This in spades. Super to see Paul be so close to the pack after weeks of trying his hardest to get better and Nick is having an immediate impact to jump in the vacant seat at VW to team up with Kiwi.

I think those tracks with our cars are a recipe for disaster as if you make one simple mistake, the Nissan and Porsche are all over the place. I thought you had Nick at the end of Suzuka though and next thing I saw was the position switched! Did you say it was the penalty that dropped you back or did you miss the chicane again?
