Do any of you have anything you are reading? Books? Comics? Magazines? I'm currently reading SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome by Mary Beard. I recently watched her BBC documentary called Meet the Romans, so thought I'd continue my reading with her book. I find the whole Roman Empire pretty fascinating.

I realise these are dying out for the most part but does anyone still buy / read these? My brother recently signed up to Readly and kindly offered me to use it. I do like reading things like "Cross-Stitcher" as it often contains designs I wouldn't mind doing. I recently have done some reading of "PlayStation Official Mag", "RetroGamer" and "PC Gamer". The idea these magazines can usually be read digitally on one subscription that allows access to so many different publications is pretty impressive.

I wish I got to meet the man. What a brilliant creative mind and such an influential figure in comic book media and beyond. He will never be forgotten, but I hope for the current generation who have been passed the torch, that they will make him proud and make Marvel great again. I feel they've lost focus, but if there's one incentive to get back on track, it's to do it for Stan. He now joins the likes of Bob Kane in the greatest Hall of Fame of all time.

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some advice on what books to read... I mostly like philosophical stuff and have a new interest for poetry. I would like some deep, meaningful reads... If you know any old classics, that would be great. History is much welcome, especially if it's related to war or secret operations. I'm not into fictional stuff when it comes to books, except horror and mystery. Fantasy books usually doesn't appeal to me. If it's a horror/fantasy or similar to Game of Thrones it might work. Crime/drama is not my thing. I like autobiographies/biographies.

So if I wanted to start reading comics, what comic and series is a good one to start from? Loved reading simple comics not related to superheroes when I was younger but could be a good thing to start, especially as my son loves superheroes. All suggestions welcome.

So Bendis left, and Marvel is feeling the hurt from all the bad writing and twitter rants that happened a few years ago. So its time for another reboot. Talking with the owners of the local shops here (Its the same family that owns them all), Marvel subscription numbers have absolutely tanked. Even titles such as Avengers and Red Goblin have maybe 10 subs total. Meanwhile DC, IDW, Image, and Dark Horse sales are all up. The Comic Retailers convention in Chicago should be interesting to say the least this year. Regardless of all that though. have any From what I can see Marvel doesn't have any really exciting stories or writers. …

We have threads for movies and music, what about this medium as well? So, what cha reading lately? I've been reading The Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft. I've been enjoying everything I'm reading of his, but it's a bit strange for me to be reading and seeing the words on the almost as often as I'm visualizing what's going on. Normally I'm basically watching a movie in my head. I'm blaming it on how long ago it was written. When I'm done that I'm either going to start The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (book for fitness group bookclub), Below Stairs by Margaret Powell, or Tangled Webs by Elaine Cunningham. I haven't planned that far ahead. New S…

Whenever there is a new super hero or comic book show/ movie I always default to this guy's channel. He's a smooth talker with an insane amount of knowledge on comic books. This channel was designed to assist in answering all of your questions about Marvel Comics and DC Comics in an easy to understand way. Some of the topics that you can dive into: How to kill (super hero). Complete ranking of power levels in Marvel/ DC. Complete background stories, lore, history on a character, ie. I used this to research the entire Iron Fist comic series, how that leads into the defenders, etc... Complete story archs or live videos when a new movie or show…

I was hesitant to buy these books for the perverse reason the series is so popular I figured it'd be too...I don't know...popular I guess. Amazon had the whole series for Kindle for $20 so I bought it and am now 3% through the series. Wow. I don't think it's going to topple Mistborn as my favorite series, but it's really interesting so far. Anyone else read the series?
