  4. Yay, I'm in A&E atm, hoping to be home in a couple of hours. Looking forward to it Big D, been far too long!
  5. Game looks and runs great! I think I paid £27 for this which is a total bargain. In contrast, Fallout 4 Anniversary is £52.99 and the upgrade alone for existing users is £35. This is stupidly good value.
  6. Downloading.....
  7. New map coming out tomorrow already. https://www.ign.com/articles/arc-raiders-first-major-update-north-line-goes-live-tomorrow-heres-what-to-expect
  8. Honestly this one's worth it imo. I've recommended shitloads of games in the past which I've stopped playing after a few days but I reckon this one's a keeper. The fact that the devs have a clear (and realistic) 10 year plan really helps too. Let me know if you buy it, I'll hop on this evening.
  9. PS3? £32.99 is not a bad price for a decent game and the videos look good - I'll have to give this serious consideration
  10. 11. Just when you thought Bethesda couldn't sink any further, they've just released Fallout 4 Anniversary for £53/$60 and in the process broken the majority of established mods. They are also now offering 'their' own paid mods for an extra £20. So basically they have repackaged something you could've bought for £14.99 a month ago, butchered every mod in the process - some of which had 6+ years of work on them so they can reintroduce their paid mod fetish which has failed 3 times already. This company is beyond being creatively and morally bankrupt. I can't see how they will survive beyond 2030 even with a new Elder Scrolls game. Microsoft also need to shoulder a huge portion of the blame as they've done nothing for the studio who still rely on outdated tech and concepts.
  12. Not good and another big loss for Sony. Crazy how many studios are screwing up so much when they have all the resources and backing they could ever need. Sony Says Bungie Hasn’t Brought in as Much Money as It Thought It Would When It Bought the Developer, as Destiny 2 Falls Off a Cliff - IGN WWW.IGN.COM It’s a tough time for Bungie and Destiny 2, with parent company Sony saying the studio has failed to meet its sales and user engagement expectations.
  13. PS5 for me Dave. If you fancy giving it a shot let me know, I'd love to team up and show you some of the basics!
  14. I feel like the PS3 may die trying to play Arc Raiders tbh. On a serious note I am on PS5 however I plan to be on with some mates this evening and they are on pc, it's easy enough to squad up and get discord working.
  15. Are you guys playing on PC or PS3?
  16. Ok so I've hit level 20, been playing every night since I bought it on Saturday. This game is basically e-crack. Anyway, I've learned quite a bit, some of it isn't in any of the millions of Youtube videos and I had to figure it out myself so I'll drop those pearls of wisdom all over bones' mum the thread. Firstly, and this is imo one of the three biggest things to know about this game, is that you can drop in for any reason you want. Sometimes I'll just grab a free loadout, hoarde as much shit as I can and then extract. This is howI strongly suggest everyone start, as picking fights WILL lead to some of the most hilarious, devastating and embarrassing deaths. These robots are out to kill, and kill you they will. For your first hour or two, the free loadout will be your friend. You have nothing to lose so can go balls-to-the-wall with it, and if you die, nothing lost. Secondly is the attitude towards loot. Loot is everywhere in this game. Find a building? Full of loot. Find a car? Could have loot. Kill a robot? Full of loot. Kill a dude? Full of loot. It's everywhere, and habit says that you need to hoarde as much as you can. Whilst this is good when you're running low on resources, you can also end up collecting a load of shit which isn't useful at that point in time. You'll also suffer from "gear fear", ie. dropping in and then getting killed, losing all your shit in the process. This hurts the first few times, but once you adjust your mentatlity to realise that you can hustle up most of that stuff again in a few rounds with a free loadout and it's all gravy. Don't be too precious about loot, you're gonna lose it anyway. Thirdly is the unlocks and upgrades. Stuff like workbench upgrades, Scrappy upgrades, skills, etc are all permanent. These are your focus, the gear and loot is merely a way of getting there. Fourth is don't pick fights randomly. These robots are absolutely ruthless and WILL fuck you up if you're caught off guard or aggro then when you're not prepared. Even the tiny ones can be a pain in the ass and many will also call for backup, so make sure you're prepared before engaging. Rule no. 1 is never, ever engage out in the open, as they'll retaliate and your peace will be shattered in to a small little skirmish of death. Make sure you've got cover, make sure you've cleared out the room you're using as cover, and be aware of your surroundings. I've got shitloads more but I'll leave it at this for now. There are also tons of third party resources which help a ton, I'll link to them later. Get on this game. It's bloody good and bloody entertaining. Often hilarious.
  17. Yesterday
  18. I have played a few solo runs and quite enjoying it, the PvP will nark me I think but we will see. For now though I have just been pottering about doing my missions and picking up anything not nailed down! It looks great and the maps are good. Every moment you come across a player can be tense, almost mexican standoff esque until someone does something as you have no idea who you can trust and who you can't.
  19. Everyone's loving that voip interaction 🤣
  20. I'm surprised at the lack of uptake on this tbh. This game is absolutely mental. Can all of you who have it pls pop your names in here and I'll see if I can organize an FG Friday on it.
  21. Grey Zone was released far too early, it will come good in my opinion. I can't really play it properly until they work on optimisation as my PC really struggles with it. As far Tarkov, these days it runs like a dream and my old 1080ti has zero problems. But I think they're going to make it an expensive game to buy when it goes 1.0 in four days. It's not for everyone, it really is a hardcore shooter like no other and really you do have to be slightly masochistic to enjoy it 😅
  22. They are basically using the same 20hz tick rate servers COD Warzone adopted in 2022 which is why the experience feels garbage. MW3 from 2023 uses 60hz servers which is why it's infinitely smoother and more responsive. BF4 had the same issues at launch along with the ropey netcode and invisible wall glitches but many private ranked servers on PC since then use up to 90hz servers and the difference is absolutely nuts. Many players in BF6 are just using casual servers now because they are better quality despite halved progression rates. In some cases you can have a better experience joining a server in Chile from Eastern Europe than playing on a DICE server in Paris. EA cheapskating it to the max.
  23. It's server de-sync. It was a problem in the beta and it looks like they still haven't fixed the issue.
  24. Last week
  25. I've played quite a bit more of the game and unlocked some better weapons which is helping however one big issue that is spoiling it is the shoot first die first instantly nonsense, I'm sure there's a technical term and I watched a video about tick rates and missing bullets etc, but it sure did describe what it looked like from my play time. I was hoping for more, I loved BF4 and to a lesser extent but only just bf1 however I'm just playing now as there is nothing else at the moment and it fills a few hours here and there.
  26. I grabbed this and have really enjoyed it so far. Really refined game that looks great and runs incredibly well. I've done just under 5 hours so far with 7 successful extractions in 8 attempts. I've only killed one human so far and have mostly just been focused on obtaining essential loot and doing a few quests. Unlocked the second location this evening and am currently level 6. The action can be really tense at times but the most scariest thing about this game is the tumbleweed🤣
  27. The maps are largely (excuse the pun) bad Battlefield maps but I don't think they are all atrocious MP maps in general. These are what COD maps used to be 15 years ago. After 75 or so hours, here's my final thoughts on them:- Blackwell Fields - now this map is an atrocity. Terrible visibility, way too open, aesthetically nasty and just a hideous layout. Cairo - decent map and plenty of destruction. Drone glitchers galore though. Works well in several modes. Manhattan Bridge - good layout and decent size. C flag is well-positioned for a good battle. Action on and off the ground and it works well in all modes. Empire State - really small and frantic. There's very little room for any tactics and squad play is irrelevant. Decent MP map but not a good Battlefield experience. New Sobek City - one of the bigger maps but still really small. Pretty fun in Breakthrough but lacks any scale or complexity like the Gulf of Oman map. Mirak Valley - tries to be a BF1 map but feels mostly like a barren land. Big but not huge. Still fun in breakthrough but hardly feels like a traditional map from this series. Iberian Offensive - not a very good looking map. It's really basic but has a decent enough flow. Doesn't feel like a Battlefield map. Operation Firestorm - 30% smaller than the older variants and it feels really watered-down. The inflated colours make it look really off too. A horrible remake. Liberation Peak - A good size and finally a map where vehicles can utilise the landscape. Still feels a bit compact on how the action flows but a good all-rounder. No naval maps in inexcusable and it's clear the developers don't like water because it fragments the action and they are probably worried people will get bored if they don't have a gun fight every 10-15 seconds. I think there is probably only one half-decent Battlefield map in this game and the rest are detrimental to the series although they aren't terrible in MP terms and how the game is designed. One map per season is not good enough either especially if it is as bad as the Blackwell Fields. Considering how bad the maps were in 2042, there really hasn't been many good maps out of this franchise for a very long time. Most of the maps also negate squad play that made the series so special. You can literally ignore your squad the whole game and still end up top with 45-60 kills and 20 captures. In older BF titles, squads were imperative especially for maintaining territory and pushing objectives. In this game flags change hands so often, if you ain't got double figures of captures come the end of the game, you've barely played the objective.
  28. I'll stick to the maps in this thread, cos its the thread for it 😄 I can definitely see some of those concerns coming through on specific maps. New Sobek City - This one has the most vertical issues. Like you said, the fact people can find cubby holes on sides of buildings with no standard stairs you ropes to get you there is very odd. I think thats where obviously vehicles, well, helicopters I mean, get you there but also having an Assault class with deployable ladders. I still don't think thats a good enough answer though as you should be able to have stairs to 95% of all high openings. This desert map is nearly as bad as Operation Firestorm. Also, the vertical issue compounds the problem by way of allowing people way higher to also control the point. I don't think that is a good design at all. Operation Firestorm - Way too open. Far too wide for snipers to take you out. New Oilfields Map - Like Matt says, ridges around but too vast of an area wide open and no cover. Lighting also not great. On the flip side, I do find these enjoyable so far: Manhattan Bridge - Great point (usually C) on top of building. Can be blown up quite abit and can change the way a game flows given the advantage point but also can easily focus too hard on it. Middle 4 way point very good with lots of ways to attack it. One of the further points, E, can have different fights, given the pipes that are destructible but give good cover, and the zip line across the top of the point but doesn't allow you to control the point. Iberian Offensive - Nice lanes to flank teams across both sides. Tanks can make differences at both end points and at D but its good that 3-4 points aren't affected so a change of how you tackle each point must be taken into consideration. Spawn Beacons can really help on this map, possibly underused so nice to see how it can flip a game and area. C can have great cover points, but also largely destructible which can change how you play attack/defence on this. Liberation Peak - Large peak that separates E from B,C,D definitely adds something to this game and how different ways you can approach winning the game. Vehicles can help change a game but also a good defence strategy across either the bottom control points, or capturing high end grounds D, E and F. Snipers can make a difference on the Peak when C and D matter in whatever game mode you're playing. Theres obviously more, but just wanted to highlight some bits I really don't like on maps, and some that I do.
