Black Market BS

Players have worked it out that you need basically 200 hours of playtime just to complete the First Strike event in BO4's battle pass format. That means to max out, you have to grind like fuck with just under 50 days or so remaining. There's no challenges for additional XP or to keep things interesting - it's a straight up grindfest. It's all set up so Activision can sell COD points so people can buy progress I bet. This will definitely mitigate the losses of supply drops.  I don't think a lot will pay but I also don't think a lot will play either especially with such an unimaginative format and such unappealing rewards.  Here's a video which outlines how it currently works after already being tweaked twice.

This. Looks like a Fortnite copy to me. I ain't bothered about it, not if its just cosmetic stuff like sprays. They were the bain of my life in Overwatch.

It's basically a pathetic attempt at a battle pass format where you unlock lame shit in each tier you rank such as emotes, sprays and calling cards. The 'event' lasts 52 days but it's incredibly grindy (probably because COD points will eventually be used to buy progression) and terribly thought out. You can view your progress and see what you've unlocked and what you can get in the future but the whole thing seems a bit of a cheap and desperate mess. Thankfully you can pay no attention to it and it shouldn't impact your experience.

I'm with Gazza, it's stupid as fuck and clearly a way to exploit COD Points or the like later down the line.

Either way, those shitty emotes and sprays don't bother me so I couldn't care less how grindy it is. Just another example of Activision being shitty though I guess.

I won't pay for progress and I'm not bothered about any of the emotes or shit like that. However, I'm quite pissed off that we can no longer earn skins for the Specialists just by using them. Activision have obviously seen how much money Fortnite makes from skins so they want some as well. EVEN THOUGH FORTNITE IS FUCKING FREE AND THIS GAME IS £60! 😠

Yep, it's happened - a new settings update introduces COD points which can be used to buy tiers in the event(s). I'm expecting P2W elements in future ones and more stifled progression systems so people are forced to pay up or grind like fuck to access the best or simply advantageous unlocks.

I've never understood the appeal of character skins. I'm rarely alive long enough to see anyone else's anyway. Overwatch was the only game where I found them somewhat worth grinding for since the TTK was longer and models we're bigger and more interesting.

I won't lie, I do like weapon camos and paint jobs but at least they're on screen for the whole game and in killcams and Play of the Games.

Character skins in COD are completely pointless especially when you can't see yourself other than in killcams and that they are so poorly designed regardless. It's ludicrous that they are able to sell these and that people even want them. In Overwatch they are something to work towards and look good because of the games aesthetic style anyway but when you have clown facepaints in a military game like Call of Duty, it just looks stupid. BO4 also doesn't have the winners circle to 'show off' such cosmetics either and the only time you get to see your team mates and yourself is before the game starts which is a painfully long countdown.

It's almost a bigger waste of time than sprays which nobody uses and taunts that nobody uses either. They've tried to replicate Fotnite in every sense of the word but it just doesn't' work. These elements are just as pathetic as pistol grips were in WW2 that you couldn't even fucking see because your character was holding the gun!

Its why they've created the Play of the Game to be more like Overwatch. I wouldn't be surprised if you found them offering different intros for PotG.
