It's my favorite time of the year again, when we get to try out some new shows and hardly any of them actually make it into being something good and every once in awhile something epic like Breaking Bad comes along and destroys all the competition.

The Tomorrow People on CW (a new take on an old show; but most definitely capitalizing on the superhero popularity)

 

The 100 (also on CW) - looks like it's copying off of Walking Dead and Revolution in anarchy style situations. Blah, I'm not sure about this one but I'll give it a chance.

I watched The Blacklist and thought it was pretty damn good.

Sleepy Hollow looks major-league stupid!

The entire trailer a while ago left me groaning the entire way. What a premise, CW! >.>

It's going places. I'm all about witches, demons, the four horseman of the apocalypse, mythology, treasure hunting etc... I've been surprised with it so far. You should check it out before completely dismissing it.

 

I watched Agents of Shield last night. It had its moments and several very corny ones but with Alphas canceled I think it will offer good hero/villain freak of nature stories. I also hope some bigger stars will show up on it and not think too highly of themselves to appear on TV.

Yeah Shield was boring. I know when a show is boring because I look over while on my phone and my girl will be on hers not paying attention It's like they said "hey lets take a part of Iron Man 3 and make it a TV episode without Iron Man."

 

I read about it yesterday on wiki! "On July 22, 2013 The CW announced there was a Spin-Off of Supernatural in the works, with the 20th episode of Season Nine serving as a back-door pilot that will introduce a new character (who will be the lead in the potential spin off series)" I'm sure it will be well done!

Never knew "The CW is developing a rival Sleepy Hollow TV series to compete with Fox." Seems like a waste of time and money to me.  In the age where remakes/reboots/prequels are all the rage and things like tween vampire romance dramas are done 8,000 times in print/tv/movies, with people still eating them up, what else can we expect?

 

Thinking, how many freak of the week themed shows there are alone? EG: Supernatural, Smallville, Grimm, CSI's, Bones... Shows I enjoy but I really dislike how they all share the same format and/or motifs even if it ends up being entertaining. I wish something fresh would come out and not get canceled 2-3 episodes.

 

During the build up to the Emmy's it was said how odd it is that most of the popular shows aren't on the major channels. ^ That's why shit brains. You all have the same show worked slightly different. The other channels are releasing shows that don't follow what you think will work because you're too stupid to change!

Well maybe an argument can be made for The Walking Dead being fresh. O Jesus Christ I just readt Zombieland was/is a TV show. Ummmm... I'd also consider Breaking Bad; it's not a great show, it has its moments, but the idea of a teacher cooking meth to make money for his cancer treatments and to ensure his family a comfortable future if he dies is pretty fresh and keeps me watching. There are a few others but nothing really forcing you to think.

 

I agree almost everything has been done or re-invented but within the moral and ethical TV world boundaries. And the argument can be made that all the foundations of story telling from then until now can be traced back to folktales. Meaning everything has already been done/copied/retold. EG: Hero's journey, motifs, magic objects, helpers, foils, forbidden love... on and on. If you have some time to kill check out Guillermo del Toro interviews from Pan's Labyrinth. They're on the DVD I can't find them online easily. He explains what I'm typing about; he's big into folktales.

 

Perhaps. I blame it on middle America. Everything is geared down to suit their Bible belt brain capacity. Anything with a monster is demonic anything with side boob or a dudes ass is porn.
