  1. Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I had a feeling there was a wealth of dog ownership knowledge on here. Deterioration - I'm thinking puppy for this same reason. I'm not sure what kind of emotional baggage a resuce may bring to the table. Maybe he seems gentle until a 4 year old yanks on his ear and he's like "yeah, been taking this shit for years and its go time." No thanks. Thanks Jordie - I may take you up on this. Yeah, I freaking hate cats. I brake for dogs and squirrels. When I see a cat I hit the gas.
  2. I just had a neighbors house get broken into and I'm looking for options. All my law enforcement friends tell me the best deterrent from burglary/break in is to have a dog (not going to run out and get a shotgun, I'm more afriad of blowing my own balls off or something ...). I'm looking at info online and the suggestions are generally really LARGE dogs. The Rottweiller looks cool as hell, but I'm worried a neighbor kid will be over playing with my kid and lose his face after pissing the dog off. Anyways, I have 3 small kids at home under 10 and I'm looking for something that is kid friendly that will also scare the shit out of any would-be burgler/pervert, etc. Leper - you could probably make this a very short discussion and just tell me what you're afraid of ... Seriously though, any suggestions? Totally unrelated side note - went back to the old FPSH website and it appears to be shut down. The times they are a changin.
  3. This post was both awesome and hilarious. I'm still dumbfounded that no one on here went apeshit over Spectre's comments.
  4. I was fully expecting to see Drifter in two different bikinis when I clicked on this thread. Frankly, I'm a little disappointed. I'd go with the black sand. Just feels exotic to me. That's how I roll. Exotic.
  5. Not as good as Tombstone, but I love this scene: Guess he shoulda armed himself!!!
  6. [quote name="Dattebayo" post="8965" timestamp=" Try going out for runs. Dangle has taken up running and it has worked wonders for him. You also get the added benefit of keeping some of those extra pounds off. This. I am a total insomniac when I don't exercise. I'm out like a light when I exercise regularly. BTW - working towards a half marathon his spring and a full by the end of next year if I can stay healthy!
  7. Drifter - I need to apologize for being an ass. Sorry bro. I've been busy with work and family and when I came back to read some things I felt a little stupid. I'm pretty thick skinned and didn't think twice about your criticism until tonight. My posts above are a little heavy-handed. Furthermore, I think we all need to treat others with more kindness than we initially feel inclined to share. I'll give you an example. I attend church with a lady who is single and has a couple of kids. She always seemed a little needy to me and had welfare needs, help paying bills etc. then I found out her family situation and felt like a jerk. Apparently her ex-husband had abused the kids and was in prison and she moved to get away from the situation. I think you would agree she deserves all the help and consideration she can get. I guess the point is we don't know what issues people are dealing with and should exercise some restraint in passing judgment or withholding a kind word or deed that may benefit them. What can I say man - I am a work in progress I guess.
  8. Drifter - I have a great deal of respect for what you have accomplished. It's takes a big man to exercise that sense of discipline. However, I stand by what I said. There is simply no excuse to be morbidly obese. It disgusts me. I don't discount what someone may have gone through personally - on that front I have overcome unemployment, cancer and the death of my brother who left behind a widow and 3 small kids and I didn't use any of that as an excuse to get drunk repeatedly or quench my sorrows in a tub of Ben & Jerry's every night. You can either choose to be a victim or stand up like a man and overcome. I don't care what someone is dealing with, there is simply no excuse for morbid obesity. I would also add that you would be hard pressed to find a runner that struggles with depression. Exercise is a great anecdote when feeling down (I'm not talking about clinical depression here, but you get my drift). I love going out for a run to clear my head. The endorphins work wonders for the blues.
  9. I finally got a shipping notification today. It is being shipped directly from their facility in China and should arrive this Thursday. To recap: Ordered Sept. 23rd Anticipated arrival October 10th. Good thing I didn't order the Gold one. This whole thing is stupid. If I wasn't shackled w/ Apple's ecosystem I probably would have jumped the Samsung fence a long time ago.
  10. Wow. Just wow. Side note - I am totally disgusted with fat people. I'm not talking a few pounds overweight (I'm in that category), I'm mean morbidly obese I require two seats on an airplane kind of fat slob. No excuse for that. Take your glandular excuses and get your fat ass on a walking program or something.
  11. Anyone order the iPhone 5s? I ordered mine directly from Apple a couple of days after launch and the damn thing hasn't even shipped yet (apparently shipping info on their website pushed the actual date back to the nebulous "October" shipping date). I told a buddy about this and he ordered his online from the AT&T website and got his like 2 days later. The hell? Anyone else order one? Don't want to start an Apple hate war - I'm fairly certain a number of the Android folks on here are prepared to T-bag me repeatedly for even mentioning this thread ...
  12. What can I say? You won me over you cheeky bastard. Pretty cool. A part of me wondered if it was largely ignored over there. You do realize that as a Packers fan you and I are mortal enemies now? I would have more to say about that if the Vikings weren't the worst team in the league.
  13. Any of you locals get into American football? I was just curious because my team (the Vikings) are headed over that way to play the Steelers this week. The NFL has been playing one regular season game in London each year and I was just wondering what impact it had on the locals. It seems to me you folks are all pretty nuts about football (soccer to us!) and I was just curious if the only reaction is "are the Vikings a new football club?" These two teams suck ass and aren't really going to do anything to raise the profile of the sport over there, just curious more than anything.
